Training Programs
GGGI partnered with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Finance under the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Program to train 30 experts on:
- Project proposal development
- Results-based management
- Environmental and social safeguards
- Gender equity
- GCF accreditation processes
The training aimed to strengthen institutional capacity for climate-resilient green economy (CRGE) implementation and mobilize climate finance.
Renewable Energy Access – Rural Communities
GGGI implemented a program to strengthen the sustainable use of renewable energy technologies in rural areas. This included:
- Technical training
- Community engagement
- Support for decentralized energy solutions
The initiative was funded with USD 1.5 million and focused on improving energy access in underserved regions 2.
Accreditation Support for Climate Finance – Cambodia
GGGI supported Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment to help private banks become accredited entities for the GCF. Key activities included:
- Capacity building for banks (FTB, ACLEDA, ABA)
- Strategic planning and knowledge sharing
- Preparation of accreditation documents
This project aims to unlock climate finance for Cambodia’s mitigation and adaptation efforts 3.
Green Cities Development Training Manual
GGGI developed an 8-module training manual for green city development, covering:
- Urban challenges and opportunities
- Low-carbon and resource-efficient cities
- Sustainable waste management
- Climate finance for urban infrastructure
This manual is used in countries like Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Morocco, Nepal, and Rwanda 4.
Webinars & Training Programs
GGGI regularly hosts webinars and workshops on topics such as:
- Green finance and smart farming (Cambodia)
- Low-carbon building expertise
- Air quality monitoring
- Sustainable bond issuance
- Climate risk valuation (Mexico)
These events target government officials, financial institutions, SMEs, and civil society 5.
