MRC Meeting

1st Meeting – 6 May 2025

The project was officially launched through a ceremony presided over by the Minister of the Ministry of Environment, with participation from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Cambodia and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. During the MRC meeting, the project’s focus areas and partnerships with research institutions were discussed, with agreement that methane reduction in the agriculture sector is a priority, while also recognizing the importance of addressing waste management—particularly solid waste and industrial wastewater—where feasible. Participants also provided feedback and suggestions on the way forward to ensure effective project implementation and alignment with the needs of key stakeholders.

2nd Meeting – 18 September 2025

The MRC acknowledged progress under Outputs 1 and 2 for the agriculture component and approved the scope of work and workplan for engagement with IRRI, including an extension of the timeline for delivery of Output 2.1. The committee also agreed to prioritize methane reduction from pig farm waste as a key sub-sector under the project, while recommending exploration of mitigation opportunities within the food processing industry. In addition, the MRC approved the proposal to engage with KRC and endorsed the structure to initiate feasibility studies on Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) in Kampong Thom Province.
