Given the minimal contribution of CH₄ to Singapore’s total GHG emissions in 2022, the AKCMM project focuses primarily on capacity-building activities and regional knowledge-sharing activities, while also contributing to the regional ASEAN Methane Reduction Roadmap (MRR) in Singapore.
This includes the involvement of Singapore focal points from the ASEAN Working Group on Climate Change (AWGCC), who contribute feedback and actively participate in the development of the MRR. Their engagement also covers participation in workshops, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building events, enabling connections with other ASEAN countries, the exchange of lessons learned, and learning from a diverse range of public and private experts and stakeholders in methane mitigation.
The budget allocated under the AKCMM project for Singapore is included within a regional umbrella budget, which also covers other regional initiatives, amounting to up to USD 1.8 million.
Goal: Support national efforts to contribute to the Global Methane Pledge by enabling regional policies, capacity building, and knowledge sharing.
