Project Summary

All four outputs of the AKCMM project will be implemented in Thailand, with a total budget of up to USD 2.75 million. Thailand participates in the program through the Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCCE) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, which serves as the national focal point for climate change cooperation under ASEAN.

Thailand seeks to enhance its capacity to address methane emissions through a comprehensive approach that includes policy and institutional development, improvement of methane measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) systems, project design and feasibility assessment and regional knowledge exchange. The program supports Thailand in developing methane reduction roadmap aligned with national circumstances, improving methane emissions inventory data, and advancing pilot and feasibility activities. These efforts contribute to Thailand’s implementation of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and to broader ASEAN regional cooperation on methane mitigation.
